How To Delete Your Search History On Google

WHAT IS GOOGLE?

Google LLC is an American multinational technology company that specializes in Internet-related services and products, which include online advertising technologies, a search engine, cloud computing, software, and hardware.

The basics of how Google Search works

Google is a fully-automated search engine that uses software known as web crawlers that explore the web on a regular basis to find sites to add to our index. In fact, the vast majority of sites listed in our results aren’t manually submitted for inclusion, but are found and added automatically when our web crawlers crawl the web.https://www.youtube.com/embed/_0QOePCkyK4?origin=https%3A%2F%2Fdevelopers.google.com&autohide=1&showinfo=0&video-id=_0QOePCkyK4&enablejsapi=1&widgetid=1

Google Search works in essentially three stages:

  • Crawling: Google searches the web with automated programs called crawlers, looking for pages that are new or updated. Google stores those page addresses (or page URLs) in a big list to look at later. We find pages by many different methods, but the main method is following links from pages that we already know about.
  • Indexing: Google visits the pages that it has learned about by crawling, and tries to analyze what each page is about. Google analyzes the content, images, and video files in the page, trying to understand what the page is about. This information is stored in the Google index, a huge database that is stored on many computers.
  • Serving search results: When a user searches on Google, Google tries to determine the highest quality results. The “best” results have many factors, including things such as the user’s location, language, device (desktop or phone), and previous queries. For example, searching for “bicycle repair shops” would show different answers to a user in Paris than it would to a user in Hong Kong. Google doesn’t accept payment to rank pages higher, and ranking is done algorithmically.

Issues like Missing Metadata, Duplicate content, over or under-optimized Metadata, and more can be readily identified. If identical content is available on the Internet as multiple pieces, the search engines find it difficult to make a decision regarding which content is more relevant to a specific query. Similarly, if metadata like Meta Descriptions or Title tags is missing, it can be easily found out.

3) Crawl Errors

Checking the crawl error report on a periodic basis helps you to solve various problems related to the crawl section. All the errors related to Googlebot encounters are shown clearly while crawling website pages. All the information about those site URLs that could not be crawled successfully by Google is shown as an HTTP error code. An individual chart can be easily displayed and information like DNS errors, Robots.txt failure, and server errors can be revealed.

One of the essential tools, Fetch as Google helps in ensuring that the web pages are search engine friendly. Google crawls every page on the site for publishing or indexing on the Search Engine Result Page. The URL is analyzed with the help of this tool for verification. This includes changes in the content, title tag, etc. This tool helps in communicating with the search engine bots and find out if the page can be indexed or not. This tool also helps in indicating when due to certain errors, the site is not being crawled or may get blocked by coding errors or robots.txt.

5) Sitemaps & Robots.txt Tester

XML sitemap is used to help search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc) to understand the website better while crawling by robots. There is a section named sitemap where you can test your sitemap to be crawled. No web pages are indexed by Google without a sitemap. ADVANTAGES OF GOOGLE SEARCH ENGINE

Every time you hear us, or most agencies, talk about SEARCH we are generally referring to Google. People often ask why this is, so we thought we would write a blog to explain why Google is the search engine of choice for both customers and agencies

Firstly, let’s look at why users use Google… I have tried to boil this article down into simple sections, as this topic is a pretty chunky one, to say the least!

1. Speed

Google is generally quicker than the other search engines at bringing back results. It is able to deliver millions of results in 0.19 of a second. This is down to their technical infrastructure, which is much better than the other engines. Google once had a fire at one of their server warehouses and although it destroyed everything hardware-wise, their service wasn’t impacted at all. Nice.

2. Choice

Google has a lot more sites in its index. It picks up new sites faster than any other engine, so you are able to search the latest news, latest sites and just loads more sites in general. Technically, you should have a better result if you have more to choose from.

3. Relevancy

Google’s algorithm is much more sophisticated than the other engines. They should be better at determining which sites are the most relevant and which ones aren’t – especially with continous updates to their algorithm to keep up with ever-evolving digital behaviours. Google have their fingers in many data pies, which the other engines don’t. Subsequently, with more data they can make more informed decisions, somewhat scary when you hear of them being able to know what you are going to type before you do!

4. Branding

You can’t overlook this aspect of Google. They are everywhere! They didn’t do a lot of advertising previously, and they don’t really advertise their search offering currently however they do advertise a lot of their other services which are all “Google” based… so naturally, you hear the name a lot. That said, I am not sure about their company motto “Don’t be evil”, I will discuss this in another post/rant.

And why do agencies like Google?

5. Market share

Well, 86% of the UK population use Google so it certainly makes sense to put your efforts into the dominant company as you are likely to get a better return for your investment of time.

6. Platform and tools

When looking at the advertising section of these engines (Google Ads/Microsoft Advertising (previously Bing Ads)) there is no comparison. Google is years ahead. You can set something up in minutes on Google, and hours/days for the other platforms. Google also provides a good toolset for you to use, which includes Analytics and WebMaster Tools to name a few. They obviously don’t tell you specifics, and leave us to work out how to adapt things accordingly!

7. Support

Well, for us, we’re a GOOGLE PREMIER PARTNER which means we have access to a whole host of benefits and resources to help our clients and partners. Google’s customer support is out of this world, and who doesn’t like a good experience with customer service?
